Search for Supersymmetry with Gauge-Mediated Breaking at CMS with the first LHC data. Dr. Daniele del Re Dr. Shahram Rahatlou The prompt decay of the neutralino in gravitino and photon within the Gauge-Mediated Breaking models has a striking experimental signature to discover Supersymmetry. These events are identified by the presence of two high energy photons and large missing transverse energy from the gravitinos. Preliminary studies in CMS have shown the potential for discovery of these models with about 10 pb-1 of data at LHC. The CMS Rome group is playing an active role in this search, with the primary focus on optimization of photon identification and jet rejection. A student joining this effort in summer 2009, with LHC starting the data taking in September, will have an excellent opportunity to make a significant contribution to improving the discovery potential in this decay channel. In particular we would like to investigate scenarios where the photons are non-pointing and the timing information extracted with the electromagnetic calorimeter can be used to measure the neutralino lifetime.
