Since several decades there is the attempt to search for the rare neutrinoless muon decay into electron-gamma. While this process is forbidden in the Standard Model, there are several supersymmetry-based models that predict rate in the order of 10**-13. The MEG experiment at PSI (Switzerland), carefully designed to reach such a sensitivity, has taken data during 2008 and is going to restart data-taking during summer 2009.
Improvements of reconstruction algorithms (especially for timing measurements) and of calibration procedures are activities of the Roma group, which is also committed on the final analysis for the extraction of a possible signal.involved.
