In seguito al DDL 1441-quater approvato il 15 ottobre alla Camera e alla legge 133/08, ben 600 ricercatori e tecnici dell'Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare rischiano di dover abbandonare la ricerca. La vicenda riguarda nello specifico 600 precari in un ente con 1800 dipendenti, che in seguito ai provvedimenti approvati dal governo non saranno assunti nè ora nè nei prossimi anni. Si tratta di una vicenda drammatica che vede porre in pericolo tutta la produzione migliore della nostra ricerca.

As a result of the summer 2008 budget package (L 133/08) and legislation which passed the lower house of the Italian Parliament on 15 October (DDL 1441-quater), 600 researchers and technicians from the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN, the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics) are at risk of being forced to abandon their careers in research. In particular, for these 600 researchers and technicians with temporary contracts (out of 1800 permanent employees), the recent legislative developments exclude virtually all the possibilities of being added to the permanent staff, now or in the future. These dramatic events have endangered one of the most vital and productive sectors of the Italian research.
