The NAUTILUS Gravitational Wave Antenna

The antenna NAUTILUS is a cylinder of Al5056, it weights 2300 kg, it is 3 m long and it has a diameter of 60 cm. It is cooled at the temperature of 0.1 K by means of a diluition refrigeration system. Its resonance frequencies are around 908 and 924 Hz, for the two modes respectively.

This antenna is located at the L.N.F. (Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati) of I.N.F.N. (Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare).
