Since several decades there is the attempt to search for the rare neutrinoless muon decay into electron-gamma. While this process is forbidden in the Standard Model, there are several supersymmetry-based models that predict rate in the order of 10**-13. The MEG experiment, carefully designed to reach such a sensitivity, is starting the data taking this summer and therefore in the fall there will be a unique opportunity for a student to analyze the first data to check the performance of the detector and in particular its time resolution, on the optimization of which the Rome group is
involved.
