Progress in Heavy Quark Fragmentation and Soft Resummation

G. Corcella (CERN)

I will present recent studies on bottom quark fragmentation in electron-positron annihilation, top quark decay and Higgs -> b bbar processes. I will investigate the impact of collinear and soft resummations on the b-quark spectrum, and use B-hadron data from LEP and SLD experiments to tune few hadronization models. Furthermore, the results will be extended to Deep Inelastic Scattering, and, by performing a fit of large-x structure functions data from NuTeV, BCDMS and NMC, an estimate of the effect of soft resummation on parton distribution functions will be given.
