Unique e-mail name and preferred e-mail address

On February 20th, 1997, the e-mail addresses of the form
firstname.lastname@desy.de have finally been activated.  Since this
address is machine independent, we strongly recommend that you use it
for all you e-mail correspondence, as well as on you business card.

What will change?			What will remain unchanged?

Tips: It is possible to configure your mailer so that either the "From:" 
      or "Reply to:" address indicate your preference for

   Netscape:  
   -------- 1. Select "Mail and News Preferences..." from the Options menu
	    2. Click on "Identity" at the top of the dialogue box which 
               appears
	    3. Type firstname.lastname@desy.de into the "Email Address"
               entry field
	    4. Click "O.K." at the bottom of the dialogue box
   pine:
   ----     1. From the Main Menu, type S for Setup and then C for Config
	    2. Scroll down to the "customized-hdrs" entry (located below
               the "feature-list" but above the "saved-msg-name-rule")
	    3. Type C to change the value and then type in the following:
	       Reply-to: firstname.lastname@desy.de
               terminating with the <RETURN> key
            4. Type E to exit the setup configuration and answer "yes" 
               when pine asks whether to commit changes.
