Here are the answers to two frequently asked questions: How is my unique e-mail name constructed? The name you specified on your account application form is the basis for your unique e-mail name. o If you have a hyphenated first or last name, this will be reflected in your unique e-mail name. o If you specified a middle name on the form, your unique e-mail name will become firstname.middlename.lastname o If your last name contains a von, de, van, etc., your unique e-mail name will become firstname.von.lastname Examples: Katherine Wipf ----> Katherine.Wipf Katherine Margaret Wipf ----> Katherine.Margaret.Wipf Katherine-Margaret Wipf ----> Katherine-Margaret.Wipf Katherine de Wipf ----> Katherine.de.Wipf Katherine Wipf-Smith ----> Katherine.Wipf-Smith If your you find that your unique e-mail name is not what you or your correspondents would expect, please address the UCO and we will correct it. Why doesn't firstname.lastname@desy.de work for me? I have a VXDESY account. Unfortunately quite a number of VXDESY users received their accounts before DESY had a central user registry. Some of these users do not appear in the central registry at all (generally in the cases where no further accounts have been applied for). If you find that firstname.lastname@desy.de does not work for you, please contact the UCO and we will include you in the central registry. Katherine Wipf User Support Group
