Quite often this test fails. The reason for this apparent failure is the way how these names become available for use. New and modified Uniq Email Names (like e.g. Michael.Behrens@desy.de) become usable only on the day following creation or modification. These names are kept in a data base, and each night the contents of this data base are exported to the DESY mailer. Only after this export the names are known and can be used. Another problem comes from the fact that the Uniq Email name is sometimes not what one expects. Many people have well known first names, e.g. Bill or Chris, but mail to bill.lastname@desy.de bounces because the user is unknown. This is usually due to the fact that this user registered under a different first name, e.g. William instead of Bill, Christopher instead of Chris. The Uniq Email Name currently works only if it is an exact match. You can use the page http://www.desy.de/cgi-bin/pbook.pl to find out the correct Email Name of a person.
