Due to security reasons and according to ZEUS Offline access policy (ZEUS note 98-042 (): Computer Security in ZEUS), access to ZEUS-IT computers at DESY is restricted as follows:

• access via rlogin/rsh is disabled;
• finger is disabled;
• access via telnet and ftp is allowed only inside DESY (domain desy.de);
• talk is allowed only from domain desy.de and infn.it;
• sendmail is disabled on Linux PCs, this means that
  you can send e-mails from our PCs, but
  you cannot receive e-mails on them.
• As it has been since a couple of years, you can establish a secure connection using the ssh protocol (slogin and scp).
  Below you can find a free version of Tera-term that includes ssh. It can be used to open secure connections from a Windows system.

1. download ttermp23.zip and install the software. The installation program will propose you to install the software in a new directory, most probably in "C:\Program Files\Ttermpro". If you have no special reason to change it, simply accept the default.
2. download ttssh151.zip and extract all files into the same directory ("C:\Program Files\Ttermpro").
