Probabilistic Inference and Forecasting in the Sciences (6 credits) The course will cover the fundamental aspects of probability theory and their applications to inference and forecasting, mainly in Physics, although the ideas and the methods presented are of general interest in all 'sciences' which deal with uncertainty, including e.g. Forensic Science and Artificial Intelligence. Exact results (when possible) will be presented, but also numerical and Monte Carlo based methods will be introduced.
