The aim of the course is to teach the experimental evidences and the methodologies that led to the formulation of the Standard Model (SM) of elementary particle physics. The course is closely linked to the theoretical courses of the first semester and to the annual course of Laboratory. Knowledge of relativistic quantum mechanics and relativistics kinematics is required.

Corso di Fisica nucleare e subnucleare per gli studenti del III anno della Laura Triennale. Il corso tratta i concetti della fisica moderna a partire dall'esperimento di Rutherford. Le conoscenze di cinematica, elettromagnetismo, e meccanica quantistica sono necessarie.

L'obiettivo del corso è quello di fornire le nozioni di base necessarie per la comprensione dei metodi di calcolo numerico tipici della fisica e per la redazione di semplici programmi.

Introduzione a programmazione a oggetti in C++ e Python. Elementi di metodo multivariati per il calcolo. E` richiesta una buona conoscenza dei contenuti del corso di Laboratorio di Calcolo e del linguaggio C.

This is an advanced course in Particle Physics for 2nd-year Master students covering B physics and CP Violation, neutrinos, and LHC physics.

Fisica Nucleare e Subnucleare III fino al 2012

I teach a few lectures on calorimetry in high energy physics in the Laboratory of Elementary particle physics for advanced undergraduate students. I also supervise the students using a spherical detector made of NaI crystals for measurements of a Cesium source commonly called La Sfera.

This is a C++ course for physics majors and graduate students in sciences and engineering. The course covers the basic principles of object oriented programming. The ROOT toolkit is used during the lab sessions to implement examples and introduce the students to analysis tools such as histograms, fitting, and plotting the results.
