Wi-Fi network list:

INFN-dot1x

The INFN-dot1x network is available to all users with e-mail domain @roma1.infn.it. The configuration profile can be downloaded directly via the Eduroam CAT service. In the site, you will find a link to download the configuration, be asked to indicate the Institute to which you are affiliated, in response of which you will select the National Institute of Nuclear Physics.

The installation contains both the profile for eduroam and for INFN-dot1x.

The credentials are the same as those used to access the SICR services, with the exception that the user’s name must be followed by the domain: username@roma1.infn.it. If you are updating a configuration or have an old INFN CA certificate, you may need to delete the previous configuration and CA certificate.

INFN-Web

This network can be used by all the users of the Rome Section of the INFN, the employees of the Physics Department and other entities at the Institute, as well as the guests registered in the INFN and Physics Department databases. However, it is not recommended for service users to use this network; they can use the INFN-dot1x and eduroam networks.

Once they are connected to the INFN-Web Wi-Fi network, in order to surf the Internet, users either have already installed a Digicert certificate signed by the INFN Certification Authority, or enter user and password in the authentication page that appears automatically.

ATTENTION: Username and password are intended to be strictly personal and should not be provided to other users. The simultaneous use of several computers with the same Username will result in the suspension of the credentials.

Eduroam

Eduroam (Education Roaming) is a service that provides secure access to a wireless network.

Roaming users visiting a participating institution are able to use the wireless local area network (WLAN) using the same credentials (Username and password) that they would use at their home institution, without the need for additional actions to be taken at the host institution.

Eduroam is an infrastructure based on a network of RADIUS servers using 802.1x.

The Italian Eduroam Federation is coordinated by the Consortium GARR, which represents it at other federations and confederations.

The Italian Eduroam Federation aims at facilitating access to the GARR network and to the other networks connected to it by mobile users (roaming users) and by participating organisations (Eduroam service). Eduroam is a registered trademark of TERENA.

Eduroam service coverage:

The configuration of Eduroam on the clients is identical to the one used for INFN-dot1x, except for the SSID, which must be eduroam.
