ARYA
The ARYA project is divided into four main activities, each linked mainly to a participating unit:
- LNF: In addition to carrying out the SEY (Secondary Emission Yield) characterization laboratory, LNF studies the mechanisms that govern the desorption induced by electrons and photons, especially from cold surfaces, and what are the relationships between the two phenomena.
- LNF also proposes the study of the compatibility (for example, for e-cloud) with the CERN LHC accelerator of the SMOG2 storage cell (equipment installed at the LHC during long shutdown 2) and of its coating for the maintenance of polarization of atomic H in anticipation of the LHCspin upgrade.
- The Naples unit has, as its objectives, the experimental and theoretical characterization of the electromagnetic interaction between the beam and the walls of the vacuum chambers, and the study of new materials produced by laser ablation, as potential mitigators of instabilities.
- The unit of Rome 1 deals with the theoretical analysis for simulations of instability and collective effects, and with the study of new materials to develop more performing accelerating structures, both cryogenic and at room temperature.
